Since we first met Bella in June last year, our beautiful sponsored Smart Pup has been on quite the journey.
Our third Smart Pup sponsorship, after two previous wonderful success stories alongside the QCM Group, has been learning fast and showing great progress in the last nine months.
In March, Bella had a positive visit with her potential future family, and after a heartwarming interaction, has officially been introduced to her child and lifelong friend.
When his mother first told him the news, he was full of excitement, remembering Bella fondly from their visit. This young boy, who is slightly non-verbal, has been practising pronouncing Bella’s name as he awaits her arrival.
Bella’s calm, supportive, and gentle nature will make her the perfect companion, always present and ready when needed.
As part of the Smart Pups process, Bella was officially introduced to the young boy eight weeks prior to the proposed placement date. They are expected to reunite in mid-May!
In the lead-up to placement, Bella is continuing to work on all of the tests and the specific skills required to support this young boy.
Bella has been involved in a number of outings and social activities to develop her focus, confidence, and public access skills. Some of the environments she has visited include the Noosa River while working around dog distraction, Cooroy Main Street, various IGA visits during our PAW’s Campaign month, Noosa Civic, a range of residential walks, Peregian Beach, Peregian Springs, Noosa Bunnings, and various Petshop visits.
Visiting these types of environments is crucial in giving her valuable exposure to different sights, sounds, smells, surfaces, and distractions, giving her the experience and preparedness to deal with different situations. Bella has developed into a well-rounded, reliable, and confident young dog in public and has dealt well with the challenges presented by loud, busy, and chaotic locations.
Bella is a beautiful, thoughtful, and loving young pup with a quiet nature and a grounding presence. She has done exceptionally well progressing through the final stages of her training, and is getting ready to begin the next chapter of her life with a new forever home and family. We’re so proud of her brilliant work, and really excited to see how she can change this young boy’s life!
